drop down provision

Refers to a private auto insurer policy wording that affects youthful operators. When a younger driver is involved in an auto accident that includes injuries and damage to third parties, a separate, substantially lower set of liability limits are applied. This applies in policies that have no youthful operators rated on the policy as regular drivers.
